Gift packaging celebrating diversity
Our colourful society is home to the young and old, tradition and cosmopolitanism and is local and international. Our gift packaging reflects  this diversity precisely: from the magical wonderland to an urban jungle. Whether as a team in the office or on the road together by bike - our festive paper collection boxes will turn everyone's heads at Christmas. And we'll get creative: the paper gift boxes are ideal for reusing and crafting and can be transformed into all kinds of beautiful new things.

Quality made in Germany
Our Elisenlebkuchen is made fresh every week in our organic bakery just 45 minutes away from Nuremberg. Wrapped in compostable organic foil and baked with the best ingredients - whenever possible, from long-standing partnerships with local farmers.

Vegan organic ingredients are our favourite tradition
Our vegan Elisen impress with their juicy flavour and high-quality organic ingredients, which are in no way inferior to the traditional recipe. There's no need for vegans to go without - just festive joy and a delicious surprise for Christmas!

Q&A

Every week, starting in October our Lebkuchen are produced by our family bakery in Burgebrach, 45 minutes from Nuremberg. We only use the best organic ingredients and enjoy the craftsmanship – and you can taste it.

Our Lebkuchen are packaged in lovingly illustrated paper tins and an organic foil made from renewable raw materials (cellulose and maize starch).

Every baker swears by their own secret spice blend, but only Lebkuchen containing the following ingredients can call themselves Elisenlebkuchen: Elisenlebkuchen must contain at least 25% almonds, hazelnuts or walnuts, may not contain any other oilseeds, and may contain a maximum of 10% flour or 7.5% starch. You can find original Elisenlebkuchen in our Shop.

Elisenlebkuchen (also called “Lebkuchen Natur” or “Pur”), are the base for all of the following variants. We offer Elisen-Lebkuchen with icing and Lebkuchen with dark chocolate glazing. Our assorted or "mixed" tins ("Gemischt") are the most popular, since they meet every taste!

From time to time, Roland also experiments on a small scale, resulting in special editions such as Lebkuchen sweetened with dates. It’s well worth subscribing to our newsletter to stay up to date.

Every Elisenlebkuchen tin contains 5 Lebkuchen – that's 390 grams of original Elisenlebkuchen. Others of our sorts of Lebkuchen may vary in weight, but feel free to check out other offers and compare!

Our mission is to offer Lebkuchen in modern and well thought out packaging, which is why we use a industrial compostable foil made from renewable materials and an illustrated, recyclable cardboard tin. This generates significantly fewer CO2 emissions during production than a tin can. While plenty of traditional tins are already available – we like it fresh and chic!

You could reuse the tin as a gift box. Other creative uses we’ve heard of: storage for spices, teabags, sweets and other small items – or even a hiding place for condoms! ;D Some upcycling ideas we have already collected for you.

If you really don't need it any more or if it got damaged over time just put it in the paper bin.

All the foils used for wrapping our Pfeffer & Frost products is certified industrial compostable.

The foil is supposed to go in the so called "yellow bag" oder "recycling bag" in Germany. It's not supposed to go in the general household or organic trash, since the waste system in Germany is not yet set up to process modern bioplastics.

Everything you need to know about Pfeffer & Frost Elisenlebkuchen

Monastery recipe 2.0:

Our organic Elisenlebkuchen are full of good hazelnuts and almonds, but do not contain the classic honey and egg whites – so they are 100% vegan.

Let's talk trash:

Our tin is reusable and made of recyclable paper. The foil that keeps our Lebkuchen fresh and juicy is made from cellulose and corn starch and industrially compostable. More trash talk?

Long live the craftsmanship:

Our bakery is a classic manufactury, family-run and organic-certified.

Fresh start every week:

Starting in October, our hard-working bakers will start the kneading machines and ovens every Monday. Your order will be freshly baked so you can enjoy juicy Elisen.
