Our “simply paint” tin is adorned with charming illustrations by GRETAS SCHWESTER, capturing small rituals and heartfelt moments.
Surrounded by paint pots, the scent of Lebkuchen and candlelight, people come together to tinker, laugh, and paint – not perfectly, but with lots of love. And if there's a splash of paint left over when the job is done? It’s used to decorate salt dough ornaments – lovingly gifted in an empty tin that once held your favorite Lebkuchen.

There’s a reason Elisenlebkuchen are world-famous: they’re unbelievably delicious. In our organic bakery our bakers only use the very best ingredients – the finest almonds, sweet marzipan and crunchy hazelnuts – sourced locally whenever possible.
The result? A handcrafted treat, freshly baked every week and made to be savored.

More than just a treat: our vegan Elisenlebkuchen get wrapped in an organic foil made from cellulose and cornstarch, keeping them fresh for up to 4 months. And because gift wrapping should be as relaxed as the holidays themselves, we’ve thought of that too: international illustrators beautifully designed our paper tins – ready to gift, no extra effort needed.

Q&A

Elisenlebkuchen (also called “Lebkuchen Natur” or “Pur”), are the base for all of our following variants. We offer Elisen-Lebkuchen with icing and Lebkuchen with dark chocolate glazing. Our assorted or "mixed" tins ("Gemischt") are the most popular, since they meet every taste!

From time to time, we also experiment on a small scale, resulting in special editions such as Lebkuchen sweetened with fine dates. Don't miss a special edition by subscribing to our newsletter.

Each baker has their own, top secret recipe and spice mix… But original “Elisen-Lebkuchen” must contain at least 25% almonds, hazelnuts or walnuts, they cannot contain any other oil seeds and no more than 10% flour or 7.5% starch by definition. In our shop you will only find original Elisenlebkuchen.

Every Elisenlebkuchen tin contains 5 Lebkuchen – that's 390 grams of original Elisenlebkuchen. Others of our sorts of Lebkuchen may vary in weight, but feel free to check out other offers and compare!

Yes, all of our Lebkuchen are vegan. Unlike conventional Elisenlebkuchen, we do not use eggs or honey for our vegan Lebkuchen.

Our Elisenlebkuchen will be soft and juicy for at least 4 months from the time of production, which is the “best before” date printed on the tin/foil. However, we have tasted the Elisen we kept unopened in the foil, and found they were still soft and delicious long after this date! You'll also find some tips on how to get hard Elisenlebkuchen soft again in our Journal.

Monastery recipe 2.0:

Our organic Elisenlebkuchen are full of good hazelnuts and almonds, but do not contain the classic honey and egg whites – so they are 100% vegan.

Our tin is reusable and made of recyclable paper. The foil that keeps our Lebkuchen fresh and juicy is made from cellulose and corn starch and industrially compostable. More trash talk?
