Crafts from the Nuremberg metropolitan region
For our original Elisenlebkuchen, only the best organic ingredients are used: fine almonds, sweet marzipan and delicious hazelnuts – regionally sourced whenever possible. The Elisen are made in our bakery in Burgebrach – part of the Nuremberg metropolitan region.

Environmentally friendly & plastic-free packaging
Guilt-free gifting: our Lebkuchen is kept fresh by a compostable film made of cellulose and corn starch. Our embossed paper banderol is not only a tactile experience, but also easy to dispose in the paper bin later.

Q&A

Lebkuchen should always be stored away from air and light to prevent them from drying out or getting too warm. It’s best to keep them in a cool, dark place at around 16–18°C or in your fridge.

Once you’ve opened the packaging of your Elisen, you can protect the remaining ones from drying out by sealing the packaging tightly again, for example with a clip or a rubber band.

You can order our non-food products all year round, and our Lebkuchen will be shipped from the second week in October. Check our website or subscribe to our newsletter to find out when our fresh Lebkuchen will be available again.

Our Elisenlebkuchen will be soft and juicy for at least 4 months from the time of production, which is the “best before” date printed on the tin/foil. However, we have tasted the Elisen we kept unopened in the foil, and found they were still soft and delicious long after this date! You'll also find some tips on how to get hard Elisenlebkuchen soft again in our Journal.

Even though our foils are compostable and certified as such, the Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt) stipulates that all plastic packaging must be disposed of in the yellow bin or yellow bag. This also applies to bio-based plastic packaging. Under no circumstances should it be placed in the organic waste bin.
