Our fabulous original Elisenlebkuchen in organic quality are also available without the collection tin. This all-rounder Christmas gift, a classics from the monastery baking book, will put a smile on everyone's face. Because good things come to those who wait. Pssst - all of our gingerbread is vegan, by the way. But they taste like the traditional Elisen you know and love. And that's how it should be, right?

Our Elisenlebkuchen are freshly baked every week in our family bakery in Burgebrach using lots of good ingredients. You can enjoy them in three different flavors: plain, dark chocolate and with icing.

You better think!
We package our vegan Elisen in an industrially compostable plastic bag made of cellulose and cornstarch, which keeps them fresh for 4 months.

Our Elisenlebkuchen will be soft and juicy for at least 4 months from the time of production, which is the “best before” date printed on the tin/foil. However, we have tasted the Elisen we kept unopened in the foil, and found they were still soft and delicious long after this date! You'll also find some tips on how to get hard Elisenlebkuchen soft again in our Journal.

Yes, all of our Lebkuchen are vegan. Unlike conventional Elisenlebkuchen, we do not use eggs or honey for our vegan Lebkuchen.

Elisenlebkuchen (also called “Lebkuchen Natur” or “Pur”), are the base for all of our following variants. We offer Elisen-Lebkuchen with icing and Lebkuchen with dark chocolate glazing. Our assorted or "mixed" tins ("Gemischt") are the most popular, since they meet every taste!

From time to time, we also experiment on a small scale, resulting in special editions such as Lebkuchen sweetened with fine dates. Don't miss a special edition by subscribing to our newsletter.

Each baker has their own, top secret recipe and spice mix… But original “Elisen-Lebkuchen” must contain at least 25% almonds, hazelnuts or walnuts, they cannot contain any other oil seeds and no more than 10% flour or 7.5% starch by definition. In our shop you will only find original Elisenlebkuchen.

All the foils used for wrapping our Pfeffer & Frost products is certified industrial compostable.

The foil is supposed to go in the so called "yellow bag" oder "recycling bag" in Germany. It's not supposed to go in the general household or organic trash, since the waste system in Germany is not yet set up to process modern bioplastics.
